Papyrus flower1/12/2024 ![]() Did you actually smell the flower? I am curious. ![]() No mention of a flower smell in any reference. Beautifully rendered in Timbuktu and Dzhonga by L'Artisan Parfumeur. The term cypriol is sometimes used interchangeably with papyrus (Cyperus papyrus) in lists of perfume notes.įrom : Odor profile: Known since antiquity, the bush that produces the papyrus leaves exudes a woody scent that evokes dryness and scholarly austerity thanks to its glorious past. Humans love to mirror in art what they see in the world around them.įrom : Cypriol: an essential oil derived from the roots of Cyperus scariosus, aka Indian papyrus, aka nagarmotha grass. The ancient Egyptians repeated this shape in many aspects of their life and artwork. Interesting little item: When looking at a cross section of the papyrus reed, it appears to be triangular in shape. Both are a species of aquatic flowering plant belonging to the sedge family Cyperaceae. The Papyrus Flower you refer to is Cyperus papyrus, not the same plant. It contains Cyperotudone Cyperene and Patchoulenone as it's major constituents. Adds a distinctive and interesting note to masculine or unisex perfumes.(Eden) Woody, deep, with smoky notes of leather. I would be happy to find the flower essential oil, but I guess I have to buy some Cypriol to compare the fragrance.Ĭypriol EO (Nagarmotha) is from Cyperus scariosus, extractedfrom the roots of Cyperus, a sedge plant (not to be confused with the Cypress tree). Mythology: Spells of Vashikarana: It's said that a man applying it to his forehead is assured of a long series of successful love affairs! ![]() I hoped someone were familiar with both extracts, to know if the fragrance is close enough.Ĭypriol seems to be the common extraction from papyrus in India and the flower extraction is more common in Egypt. I'm not familiar with it and don't know how it differs in fragrance compared to the flower extract. The only extraction I can find of the papyrus for sale is the Cypriol essential oil, which also is used as an fragrance in perfume. It's an earthy, woody, green, fruity type of fragrance, but at the same time it's a bit spicy.įor me it's complex enough to be used as a single note in a perfume. It's a common fragrance used in many different commercial perfumes like. It's a raw extraction of the flower of the Cyperus Papyrus.
